Q. Is the All Weather, Inc. AWOS certified by the FAA?
A. Yes, download
the certification letter.
Q. How long does it take to get an FCC approved frequency for VHF
radio transmitters or UHF data link radio?
A. Approximately 6 to 12 months.
Q. What types of connections are allowed between the DCP and CDP?
A. Depending on the distance between the DCP and CDP, the customer
has a choice of RS-232, RS-485, or UHF radio connectivity.
Q. What is the output power rating for AWI's VHF radio transmitter?
A. AWI outputs 5 watts of power out of the VHF radio.
Q. AWOS reports all data missing, what do I do?
A. Reset the PC and the peripheral Interface and see if it comes up.
Make sure the breaker for the DCP is not tripped. The display inside the DCP
should be ON and you should be able to scroll up and down using the keypad.
If the AWOS is using UHF radios for data link, make sure the transmit and
receive lights are flashing. If the AWOS is using landline for its data link,
make sure the voltage is changing every 5 seconds on TB4 -9 & 10.

Q. Why is sky data missing on the voice, one-minute page and the ceilometer
doesn't show any failures?
A. FAA does not want sky data in the observation when Visibility is
missing. The algorithm does not allow sky data to be voiced or displayed when
there is a visibility failure.
Q. System does not answer the phone, the phone just rings.
A. Is the GTA transmitting the observations?
If yes, Voice Prime modem path is the problem.
If no, is system displaying data on OID?
Q. Voice is not broadcasting latest observation or is broadcasting
old data.
A. Voice output on the Command Voice page was most likely changed from
one minute to last observation.
Q. Remote OID is blank or no intelligent data being displayed.
A. Cycle power to OID and Leased line modems.
Are leased line modems communicating with each other?
If no, check modem setup.
Check leased line circuit and lightning protection.
Replace modem.
Is data being reported on the voice (GTA and Phone)?
If yes and modems are communicating Problem is the OID.
