Upgrade Your AWOS to an All Weather, Inc. System

All Weather Inc. (AWI) now has two programs to enable you to extend the service life of your older AWOS unit.

The first program is to upgrade your older Qualimetics model 200 or model 400 AWOS to the latest AWI model 900 series AWOS.

The second program is an upgrade from the older Handar AWOS to the AWI NEXWOS (AWOS) system.

How can I tell what system I have?

To see if you can take advantage of this cost effective program to upgrade to the latest AWOS, here's what you have to check.

Qualimetics Model 200 & Model 400: You will have to look at the DCP box mounted outside on the tower and compare what you see to the photos below:

AWOS-400 Note that the plastic pressure port is on the bottom.	AWOS-200 Note that the plastic pressure port is on the left side.

Handar AWOS: You'll have to go outside and look underneath the DCP box mounted on the tower for a label with the words "Handar".

The Qualimetrics Upgrade

If your airport uses the older Qualimetics AWOS you can extend the service life of the AWOS as well as add the latest sensors to bring the system up to our newest 900-series configuration, and even increase its capabilities by upgrading it to a "-P" or "PT" system. The system upgrade is FAA approved and is only available from AWI.

The AWI AWOS upgrade kit replaces the older Qualimetics parts with the following:

(The old AWOS being replaced will already have either a 2020/2030 set or a 2100 skyvane, either of which will work on the upgraded AWOS. Also, they will already have a 6021-A rain gauge, they don't need another. If their existing VHF radio is a model 1761-A, they can continue to use it. Their VHF and UHF antennas and cables should be OK. Part of the customer's objective in upgrading instead of buying a competitor's AWOS is to save money.)

The Handar Upgrade

If your airport uses a Handar AWOS providing weather information to your pilots, you can extend the service life of the AWOS by upgrading to the AWI NEXWOS at half the price of replacing the entire system. The system upgrade is FAA approved and is only available from AWI.
