All Weather, Inc. Announces Major Milestone: Installation of 1700th Automated
Weather Observation System
Advanced AWOS installed at Wood County Airport, Texas; Wayne Collins,
Chairman, Wood County Airport Board to receive award at Texas Airports Conference
Austin,
TX (April 14, 2004) All Weather, Inc., a leading manufacturer of
high accuracy, high dependability aviation weather information systems and meteorological
sensors, today announced at the Texas Airports Conference that it has
reached a major milestone, the installation of its 1700th Automated
Weather Observation System. The system, a Series
900 AWOS III-P-T was installed at Wood County Airport, Mineola/Quitman,
Texas, a general aviation facility located 75 miles east of Dallas. Installed
as part of the Texas DOT AWOS program and commissioned by the FAA
in March 2004, the system provides fast, accurate, and reliable meteorological
data that increases safety for flight operations. The AWOS
measures and reports wind speed, wind gusts, wind direction, relative humidity,
temperature, visibility, precipitation, altimeter setting, density altitude,
cloud height and sky condition, present weather, and lightning-all essential
data for the safe and economic operation of any aviation center, large or small.
On April 15th, in a ceremony at the Texas Airports Conference in Austin,
Texas, Wayne Collins, Chairman, Wood County Airport Board, will be presented
with a special award from All Weather, Inc.'s Ralph Petragnani, Director of
Marketing & Sales.
According to Mr. Collins, "We're extremely pleased with All Weather's
system. Wood County Airport weather is now available on the internationally
accessible National Airspace Data Interchange Network (NADIN). And a dial-in
feature provides local residents with 24/7 access to real-time aviation weather.
It was a real community project, with local funding coming from the towns
of Mineola and Quitman, from Wood County, and from personal contributions
by local pilots."
According to Mr. Petragnani, "We are honored to work with the Wood County
Airport and are pleased that they are the home for our 1700th Aviation Weather
Observation System. Over the years, AWI has been a preferred supplier of AWOS,
AWSS, and ASOS systems to both government and commercial organizations. By
monitoring key environmental variables, we allow airport personnel to make
solid, informed decisions. We congratulate the Wood County Airport on its
commitment to safe and reliable operations for its entire citizenry."
Site preparation for the Wood County Airport weather observation system was
carried out by Kajun Service of Pontchatoula, LA. Installation was by Remote
Systems Integration, Millington, TN.
AWOS: Automated Weather Observation System
All Weather's Series 900 AWOS is based
on state-of-the-art sensor technology and a powerful, microprocessor-based
computer system that collects and processes vast amounts of environmental
data. Whether the concerns are precipitation, wind gusts, temperature, present
weather, or lightning detection, the end result is a cost-effective aviation
weather system that provides the power and versatility needed to stay on top
of rapidly changing weather. The AWOS is expandable, easy to install, and
easy to maintain.
AWI's AWOS system is designed to meet the
stringent standards of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA),
as well as those of the international governing bodies International Civil
Aviation Organization (ICAO),
World Meteorological Organization (WMO),
and Transport Canada. All
systems measure and report essential aviation weather information and include
full Remote Maintenance Monitoring capabilities to ensure continuous monitoring.
- AWOS I: wind speed, wind gusts, wind direction, variable wind direction,
temperature, dew point, altimeter setting, density altitude
- AWOS II: same as AWOS I plus visibility, variable visibility, precipitation,
day/night
- AWOS III: same as AWOS II plus cloud height and sky condition
- AWOS III-P: same as AWOS III plus present weather and precipitation discrimination
- AWOS III-P-T: same as AWOS III plus present weather and lightning detection
