ACE-IDS Air Traffic Control Display System Receives Approval from FAA
Sacramento, CA (May 25, 2004) All Weather, Inc., a leading
manufacturer of high accuracy, high dependability weather information systems
and meteorological sensors, today announced that ACE-IDS,
the FAA's only certified
air traffic control display system, has received an In-Service Decision from
the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA),
designating it an official part of the National Airspace System.
ACE-IDS presents real-time information
to air traffic controllers on a single display platform, consolidating data
from many of the FAA's key
weather and safety monitoring systems and other outside sources. The system
is designed to improve efficiency and safety in the air traffic terminal.
ACE-IDS received approval from
the user community at TRACONs and ATC towers across the US and thus has been
approved for further deployment.
"We are extremely pleased by the FAA's
In-Service Decision for ACE-IDS,"
said Gary Wagner, CEO of All Weather, Inc. "The system was designed with
the flexibility to display data from almost any National Airspace System source.
In new facilities, ACE-IDS has
consolidated and replaced individual system displays. In existing facilities,
it offers the opportunity to reclaim valuable operational real estate by eliminating
multiple position-specific displays."
ACE-IDS is currently deployed
in more than 80 TRACONs and towers, including Atlanta, Northern California,
Potomac, Dallas-Fort Worth, Oklahoma City, Honolulu, St. Louis, Boston, Seattle,
and Guam. More than 800 workstations are in operation.
Fingertip Access to Detailed Information
ACE-IDS is an industrial-grade
COTS/NDI (commercial-off-the-shelf/non-developmental item) that provides air
traffic controllers with quick and easy access to millions of pages of information.
A touch-screen display consolidates real-time and static data from a multitude
of sources, reducing the controller's workload and improving safety. Data
includes all of the FAA's
key weather and safety monitoring systems at an airport and comparable information
from neighboring areas. In addition, the system includes the official time
source for air traffic control as well as an instantaneous display of approach
procedures, navigational charts, checklists, and the operational and emergency
procedures required by controllers to perform their tasks.
Each ACE-IDS workstation is instantaneously
configurable to support any control or supervisory position, providing the
ability to immediately reconfigure facilities in the event of system outages.
This capability also facilitates shift changes and periods of reduced operation,
such as nighttime shifts.
Flexible Software
Access to operational data in ACE-IDS
is provided via the systems' built-in database software, supplied by Systems
Atlanta, Inc. (SAI).
ACE-IDS also includes ACE
NetView, All Weather's extensive software toolkit for Remote Maintenance
Monitoring (RMM). The cornerstone of any system deployed in the NAS is its
availability and reliability. ACE NetView allows technical operations personnel
to either locally or remotely monitor and manage the health of the system.
The software is customized to the deployed hardware and can quickly isolate
failed or out-of-tolerance components. This allows personnel to diagnose any
fault down to the line replaceable unit.
Pricing & Availability
ACE-IDS is available 120 days
ARO. Prices start at $25,000 and are based on system configuration.
